Knife blacksmith’s course (rustic medieval knife) half-day course
In small groups 1 – 4 persons (from 16 years)
In Losenstein, you will forge your rustic medieval knife made of carbon steel or Damascus steel* under my expert guidance (The Damascus is manufactured by me for you in advance and can be purchased locally for an additional fee).
In this course you will learn what is important in forging, each step is explained by me personally so that at the end of the course you can take a rustic medieval knife home even if you have never had anything to do with the material.
Day 1
Start 9:00 a. m. in my blacksmith’s workshop at 4460 Losenstein Stiedelsbach 32.
Procedure:
- Brief safety briefing
- Designing your rustic medieval knife approx. 25 cm / blade length up to 12 cm
- We start the forge and immediately start the forging of your knife to the final shape.
- Next, grind the blade sharply with grinding stones or file or, if desired, on the belt grinder so that it cuts properly.
Included in the price:
- Self-forged knife max. Blade length 12 cm + handle length ~ 13 cm, blade height 40 mm
- Blade steel (carbon steel)
- Damascus steel* against surcharge (payable on site in cash) (please inform at least 2 weeks before the course starts) approx. 80 € depending on size and Damascus start

Bring along is:
- Pleasure of the thing
- Work clothes (jeans and sweaters/non-plastic)
- sturdy footwear
- Protective goggles, leather gloves and other protective equipment can be used, taken home or purchased locally
Important information about this course:
- Start punctually at 9:00 a. m. – End at 1 p. m.
- Age 16 (Knive is handed over to the guardian after completion of the course)
- At the beginning of the course, a safety instruction must be signed which excludes any liability of the organizer for persons and damage to property during the course.
Terms and conditions:
- The place is only booked for you once the full amount has been paid
- If no payment is made within 4 weeks of booking, the course will be automatically canceled
- If you cancel the booked and paid event, we will charge the following service: up to 3 weeks before the start of the course no cancellation fee, from 3 weeks before the start of the course 30% of the course fee, from 1 week before the start of the course 70% of the course fee.
- The validity period of the vouchers/booked courses is 1 year after the date of issue/invoice!
